Canadian EarthCare Society
What is the Canadian EarthCare Society?
The Canadian EarthCare Society (EarthCare) is a non-profit environmental organization with a mandate to protect Earth's environment through advocacy and public education. Founded in 1982 and incorporated in March of 1985, the Canadian EarthCare Society has developed and initiated numerous projects and campaigns designed to ensure environmental protection.
We are a multi-issue organization that encourages the use of dialogue and a non-confrontational approach first to resolving environmental issues.
EarthCare structure:
The Canadian EarthCare Society is run as a non-profit society with policy decisions, mandate, and guidelines established by a board of directors. Elections are held on an annual basis during the organization's annual general meeting. David Shaw chairs the current board of six members.
David is one of the founding members of EarthCare. Other founding directors still actively involved with the organization include Lloyd Manchester, Senior Policy Advisor and Charlie Hodge, newly appointed Executive Director.
A board of directors of six likewise runs the Canadian EarthCare Foundation. Chairperson of the Foundation is Lloyd Manchester.
Executive Director Charlie Hodge handles the organization's day-to-day operations and maintains our Kelowna based office, while also filling the role as our EWAC program coordinator.
